Watch This | Exploring China's 24 solar terms, healthy living practices
The ancient Chinese developed the 24 solar terms—12 main and 12 minor—and used them to direct agricultural production thousands of years ago.
Today (Nov. 7), the culture behind the terms provides useful guidance to people's lives as each term features special food, cultural ceremonies and healthy living tips.
"Lidong" or Beginning of Winter, which means the winter is coming, is the 19th of the 24 solar terms in the Chinese lunar calendar. It falls on Nov. 7 this year.
After Lidong, most regions in China will experience a transition from cool to cold weather. As the weather gradually cools down, taking part in sports and fitness activities remains a good choice.
