Stories behind old friends at CIIE

The China International Import Expo has entered its seventh year, and over the past six years, US companies have consistently occupied the largest exhibition area. An increasing number of American businesses are using the expo to deepen their understanding of and commitment to the Chinese market.

Mattress Giant Tempur Continues to Increase Investment

As one of the world's largest mattress suppliers, Tempur is participating in the Expo for the second time this year. Previously, Tempur focused on industry-specific exhibitions, but last year they chose to participate in the CIIE. Rong, director of Tempur's China market, admitted that while the brand has gained recognition within the industry, the expo provides a broader platform to reach more Chinese consumers. After a successful debut last year, Tempur returned this year, showcasing a new series of mattresses, which is making its Asian debut.

It is reported that Tempur has opened approximately 100 stores in China over the past year and plans to continue increasing its investment this year.

Pepsi Introduces Company Developments

Also participating for the second year, Pepsi's story is somewhat different. Initially, Pepsi's executives only attended the Hongqiao International Economic Forum held during the expo, but recognizing the vast potential of the Chinese market, they decided to set up a booth at the expo last year to engage more with consumers.

This year, Pepsi has constructed a "Pepsi starlight corridor" at its booth to detail the company's development and the important milestones of its Asian R&D center in local development and innovation. This not only demonstrates Pepsi's long-term commitment to rooting in China, serving China, and partnering with China but also highlights the company's determination and actions in growing together with China.

Cargill: From "Behind the Scenes" to "Center of the Stage"

As a consistent participant in the Expo, Cargill has transitioned from "behind the scenes" to "center of the stage," allowing more people to understand its technological innovations, products, and services. Some attendees noted, "I realized I had already purchased Cargill products in my daily life, and it was only after seeing their booth at the expo that I finally realized."

Additionally, Cargill has gained an excellent platform for discussing important issues with various stakeholders in the food and agriculture sectors. This year, Cargill showcased its latest products, technologies, and solutions at the expo, featuring over 120 exhibits covering food ingredients, animal nutrition, edible oils, cocoa/chocolate, beauty care, industrial applications, and metal and shipping-related solutions, many of which are making their debut in the Chinese market.
