PBC to issue commemorative coins for 100th anniversary of Sun Yat-sen University
November 12, 2024 marks the 100th anniversary of Sun Yat-sen University. To celebrate this historic moment, a series of anniversary events has been planned in the five campuses of Sun Yat-sen University.
Moreover, the People's Bank of China will issue a set of gold and silver commemorative coins on November 11 to celebrate the anniversary.
This set of commemorative coins includes one gold coin and one silver coin, both of which are legal tender of the People's Republic of China.
The obverse side of both coins features the national emblem of the People's Republic of China, along with the country name and year.
The reverse side of the 8-gram round gold coin showcases the main image of the university's emblem, the Clock Tower, designed with the years "1924" and "2024". It also includes the text "中山大学建校100周年" (100th Anniversary of Sun Yat-sen University) and "SUN YAT-SEN UNIVERSITY CENTENARY CELEBRATION", along with the denomination.
The reverse side of the 30-gram round silver coin depicts the bronze statue of Sun Yat-sen and the surrounding scenery in the university campus, complemented by the school motto. It also includes the text "中山大学建校100周年" (100th Anniversary of Sun Yat-sen University) and "SUN YAT-SEN UNIVERSITY CENTENARY CELEBRATION", along with the denomination.
