China respects US election process, declines to comment on hypothetical questions
On November 6th, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning hosted a regular press conference. A foreign media reporter asked about Donald Trump gaining an increasing lead in the US presidential election and his previous threats to raise tariffs on China. The reporter inquired whether China would be prepared if such a situation arose.
Mao Ning responded, "The US presidential election is an internal matter of the United States, and we respect the choice of the American people. Regarding the tariffs you mentioned, we do not respond to hypothetical questions."
