First ballots cast in New Hampshire town as US presidential election day voting begins
Nov. 5 marks the official voting day for the US presidential election. Voters in the small town of Dixville Notch, New Hampshire, were the first to cast their ballots, officially kicking off the voting for the 60th US presidential election.
On Nov. 5, most polling stations across the country opened in the morning and will remain open until the evening. According to data from the University of Florida's Elections Lab, more than 78.02 million voters had already cast early ballots as of the morning of Nov. 4.
This year's presidential race features Democratic candidate and current Vice President Kamala Harris against Republican candidate and former President Donald Trump. US media outlets widely believe that the 2024 election is shaping up to be one of the most tightly contested in recent history.
