Indonesia's National Disaster Management Agency reported that the eruption of Lewotobi Volcano in East Nusa Tenggara Province has resulted in 10 deaths.
Authorities have raised the volcanic alert level from 3 to the highest level of 4, advising residents and tourists to avoid any activities within a 7-kilometer radius of the eruption site and to remain vigilant. The public is also advised to wear masks to protect against respiratory issues caused by volcanic ash.
The eruption occurred on Sunday (Nov. 3) evening local time and lasted for 1,450 seconds, with most victims hailing from a nearby village, including one child.
Over ten thousand people affected by the eruption have been relocated to temporary shelters set up by the local government.
