CIIE 2024: Witness participation of 3500 enterprises worldwide!
The 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) will be held in Shanghai from November 5 to 10. This year's expo will feature an exhibition area of over 420,000 square meters, with participation from 152 countries, regions, and international organizations in both the national and enterprise exhibitions. The enterprise exhibition will attract 3,496 exhibitors from 129 countries and regions worldwide.
This year's CIIE will focus on the development of new quality productive forces, with many "first-time" and "premiere" exhibits to look forward to. Industry giants such as Yamaha Motor Company, Nippon Paint, and General Electric Energy will gather in Shanghai to showcase "China debuts," "global debuts," "Asian debuts," and cutting-edge technologies, highlighting the importance and expectations overseas enterprises have for the expo.
According to the Ministry of Commerce, Chinese Premier Li Qiang will attend the opening ceremony and related activities to deliver a speech.
As the world's first national-level expo centered on imports, the CIIE has made impressive strides over the past seven years. Data from the Ministry of Commerce indicates that nearly 2,500 representative new products, technologies, and services have debuted at the first six expos, with a cumulative intended transaction value exceeding US$420 billion. During this period, the expo has organized over 1,130 foreign-funded enterprises and investment promotion agencies for targeted matchmaking.
The enterprise exhibition continues to maintain a massive scale of over 360,000 square meters, with 3,496 exhibitors from 129 countries and regions, surpassing both the number of countries (regions) and enterprises from the previous expo. A record 297 Fortune 500 and industry-leading companies are participating, with 186 companies and organizations achieving a "perfect attendance" over the seven years. Many foreign executives have stated that the CIIE has become a stage for new products, a bridge for new cooperation, and a treasure trove of new opportunities.
Expanding medical cooperations in China
Medtronic, one of the U.S. companies with perfect attendance at the expo, is showcasing nearly 100 innovative products and solutions this year, including global or Asian debuts and China premieres. Through previous expos, Medtronic's series of innovative products have quickly entered the Chinese market. The company's senior vice president and president of Greater China, Alex Gu, stated that Medtronic is bringing many globally leading innovative medical technologies and solutions into China through the expo to meet the diverse and high-quality medical service needs of local patients.
Maximilian Foerst, president and CEO of ZEISS Greater China, expressed that after seven years of development, the spillover effects of the CIIE continue to amplify, injecting confidence and vitality into the global economy and providing valuable development opportunities for multinational companies like ZEISS.
"Irreplaceable"
This year marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France, with France participating as the guest country at the CIIE. As the largest exhibitor in the beauty and personal care industry for seven consecutive years, L'Oréal CEO Nicolas Hieronimus stated that there is no other event in the world that can achieve such a scale, allowing deep participation and providing a platform for L'Oréal to showcase its brand, new technologies, innovations, and sustainable development plans.

Promoting HK's advantages
Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee led a delegation to Shanghai today to attend the 7th CIIE. Over 300 exhibitors from Hong Kong are participating, accounting for nearly one-tenth of the total exhibitors at the expo, showcasing the diverse trading advantages of Hong Kong's goods and services.
The Hong Kong government will also continue to set up a display area in the national pavilion to introduce Hong Kong's latest developments and advantages.
This year, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) continues to lead the establishment of the "Hong Kong Products Pavilion" and "Hong Kong Services Pavilion," with a total of 52 Hong Kong companies exhibiting, covering an area of 1,500 square meters. The products pavilion includes 34 well-known Hong Kong enterprises showcasing leisure foods, health products, innovative foods, and more, designed with the concept of "CUISINE GALLERY" incorporating elements of Hong Kong culture. The services pavilion features 18 Hong Kong companies with a display area of 500 square meters, showcasing a range of representative new products, technologies, and services, highlighting Hong Kong's important role in connecting domestic and international "dual circulation."
