On Sunday, Hong Kong's sole delegate to the nation's top legislature, Starry Lee, said she hopes to promote the SAR as a talent hub at the upcoming National People's Congress Standing Committee meeting in Beijing.
Lee said the top legislative body will review several bills and reports at the meeting, including those on developing world-class universities on the mainland.
She expressed the hope that these institutions will boost cooperation with universities in Hong Kong.
"I want to hear about what policies there will be in terms of the cooperation between the mainland's 'double first-class universities' and Hong Kong's universities. These are important for building Hong Kong into an international hub for top talents," Lee told reporters at the airport.
The five-day NPC session will be held from Monday to Friday.
