Lam Sai-hung: Very concerned about incident of vessel hitting dock in Central
The Secretary for Transport and Logistics, Lam Sai-hung, said on his social networking page today (November 1) that he is very concerned about the incident of a vessel hitting a pier at Central Pier No. 9 in the morning and expressed condolences to the injured, and that the Marine Department will investigate the cause of the accident.
The accident occurred at around 7:00 a.m. when a chartered vessel carrying workers crashed into the pier while berthing at Pier 9, Man Kwong Street, with more than 110 passengers on board. It was reported that 43 people were initially injured, mainly in the collision. A large number of rescue workers arrived at the scene and assisted the passengers to get off the boat, then examined their injuries and handled them by triage.
