The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) has upgraded Kong-rey to a super typhoon today (Oct. 30).
According to current forecasts, Kong-rey will enter within 800 kilometers of Hong Kong by tomorrow morning (Oct. 31). The typhoon will cross central and southern Taiwan before turning northwards and approaching northern Fujian, maintaining a distance of over 500 kilometers from Hong Kong in the next two to three days, posing no significant direct threat to the region.
