Legends Assemble: Real Madrid, Barcelona icons set for December showdown in HK
Hong Kong is gearing up for an international football spectacle this December. The highly anticipated "Legends Assemble: Real Madrid Legends vs Barcelona Heroes" match will take place on Dec. 20 at the Hong Kong Stadium, bringing together over 30 legendary players from Spain's La Liga to showcase their skills in an exhibition match.
Former Barcelona star Luis García and Real Madrid legend Fernando Morientes were in HK yesterday (Oct. 17) to attend the official press conference, where they signed participation agreements to guarantee their appearance on match day.
Co-organized by TIMEWOW, World Football Legends, and ACO Media, with technical support from the Football Association of Hong Kong, China Limited (HKFA), the event in HK will kick off the Asian leg of the Legends Assemble tour. According to the organizers, this match will be the most star-studded and prestigious of the series.
The lineup for both teams is filled with iconic names. Representing Real Madrid will be stars like Iker Casillas, Luís Figo, Roberto Carlos, Fabio Cannavaro, and Esteban Cambiasso, while Barcelona will feature legends such as Xavi Hernandez, David Villa, Carles Puyol, and Gaizka Mendieta.
To ensure fans get the chance to see these football icons in action, the organizers emphasized that key players have all signed formal agreements to participate in the match. García and Morientes have also signed their contracts live during the press conference.
This event marks the first time in over 21 years that Real Madrid stars have visited HK, with their last visit in 2003. The enthusiasm surrounding this event is expected to reignite the city's passion for football.
Chairman of HKFA, Eric Fok Kai-shan noted that with the upcoming East Asian Football Championship Preliminary Round taking place from Dec. 7 to 17 in HK, the series of football events will likely draw more tourists to the city.
Tickets for the Legends Assemble match will go on sale from 11 a.m. on Oct. 21 via Klook.com. Ticket prices range from HK$680 to HK$2,480.
The organizers are also offering two special packages: a HK$6,880 VIP package, which includes a HK$2,480 ticket, a meet-and-greet with either Real Madrid or Barcelona legends, a set of 15 player cards, posters, and other exclusive merchandise. A HK$2,880 package will offer fans player cards and posters, minus the meet-and-greet opportunity.
To combat ticket fraud, the event will issue physical tickets with unique anti-counterfeit stickers and QR codes for authentication.
