At the Q&A Session on the Chief Executive's Policy Address 2024 held this morning (Oct. 17) day, Kwok Ling-lai asked a question on the promotion of internationalization to enhance the influence of DSE in the "One Belt, One Road" countries so as to make it an internationalized test, and what are the thoughts on the DSE brand? Will the government have measures and methods to promote this in the future?

In this regard, John Lee responded that the promotion of Hong Kong as an international hub for high-end talents requires a diversified approach. Therefore, he attached great importance to the establishment of the Committee on Education, Technology and Talents, under the leadership of the Chief Secretary for Administration as mentioned in his Policy Address.

He pointed out that he was deeply inspired by President Xi Jinping's important speech at the National Education Conference, in which he referred to the importance of integrating education, talent and technology in promoting development.

Lee said that "Study in Hong Kong" is a global signboard, but it should be carried out in phases. He recognized the DSE acceptance but pointed out that in terms of attracting students to study in Hong Kong, the local education system of DSE has not yet been set up in the "One Belt, One Road" countries, so the target groups at this stage are universities and post-secondary education, and emphasized that it is of primary importance to develop "Study in Hong Kong" in a pragmatic manner.
