'We welcome Taiwanese, including performers who support One China principle': Spokesperson
During a routine press conference held by the Taiwan Affairs Office this morning (Oct. 16), a journalist raised questions about the recent signing of Taiwanese actor Wu Kang-ren with a mainland agency, which sparked public debate.
Some netizens have pointed out Wu's participation in the "Sunflower Movement," questioning his political stance.
In response, spokesperson Chen Binhua stated that the Chinese side consistently encourages and supports enhanced cross-strait exchanges in various civilian sectors. For Taiwanese citizens, including youths, grassroots individuals, and performing artists, if they have previously held unclear views about cross-strait relations, spoken inaccurately, or even made mistakes, as long as they clearly distance themselves from Taiwan independence, endorse the "One China" principle, recognize themselves as Chinese, and are willing to participate in and contribute to the peaceful development of cross-strait relations, they are welcome in mainland China. The mainland will strive to provide platforms and increase support to help them succeed and fulfill their dreams.
