China urges EU to clearly oppose Taiwan independence

According to the Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the European Union, a spokesperson responded to inquiries from journalists regarding the European External Action Service's statement on Taiwan.

When asked about the EU's statement issued on Oct. 14 concerning Chinese military exercises near Taiwan, the spokesperson said that the exercises were a firm countermeasure against the provocations of "Taiwan independence" separatist forces.

The spokesperson emphasized that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory and that it is justified for the Chinese military to conduct exercises in the waters near Taiwan. The issue of Taiwan is purely China's internal affair and tolerates no foreign interference. "Taiwan independence" is incompatible with peace in the Taiwan Strait. If the EU genuinely cares about peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, it should resolutely oppose "Taiwan independence" and avoid sending any wrong signals to separatist forces.
