The WTA 250 Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open 2024 will take place from Oct. 26 to Nov. 3, with the tournament offering a prize pool of US$250,000.

On Oct. 15, the event organizers confirmed that former world No. 1 Naomi Osaka will be competing, marking her return to HK after her last appearance in 2018.

Naomi Osaka became the world's No. 1 ranked player in women's tennis following her Grand Slam wins at the 2018 US Open and the 2019 Australian Open.

The tournament will also feature rising star Diana Shnaider and world No. 38 Anastasia Potapova. Shnaider, 20, is the youngest player ranked in the WTA top 16 and recently won a silver medal in women's doubles at the Paris Olympics alongside Mirra Andreeva. Potapova, a two-time WTA singles champion, achieved her career-high singles ranking of No. 21 in June last year.

Other notable participants include former world No. 1 and two-time Grand Slam winner Simona Halep, British No. 1 Katie Boulter, Wimbledon quarterfinalist Lulu Sun, former US Open champion Emma Raducanu, Paris Olympics mixed doubles silver medalist Wang Xinyu, and rising Chinese stars Yuan Yue and Wang Xiyu. Representing HK will be local talents Eudice Chong and Cody Wong Hong-yi, who will face off against the world's elite.

Tennis legend Li Na, a former world No. 2, has been appointed as the tournament director for the event.
