The comet "Tsuchinshan-ATLAS" (comet designation C/2023 A3), one of the brightest comets in recent years, has recently appeared in the night sky over Hong Kong.
The optimal period for observing this comet extends until Oct. 17. Residents can attempt to locate it in the western sky after sunset. The Space Museum has advised on social media that as time progresses, the comet's elevation angle will increase each day but it will also become dimmer, recommending the use of binoculars for observation.
Discovered in 2023, C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) is the eighth comet found by the Purple Mountain Observatory in China and is named the "Tsuchinshan-ATLAS" comet.
