South Korea military: North Korea may destroy inter-Korean highway
According to a South Korean military source quoted by Yonhap News Agency, surveillance equipment has detected that North Korean forces might be preparing to demolish sections of the highway connecting the Gyeongui Line and Donghae Line with South Korea. The South Korean military is closely monitoring North Korea's activities.
Last Wednesday (Oct. 9), the General Staff Department (GSD) of the Korean People's Army (KPA) announced that it would sever all road and rail links to South Korea, starting immediately, to fortify defense facilities. The North also informed the South Korean military about these plans, stating that it would mobilize a large number of personnel and equipment for operations, including demolition work.
