The Education Bureau is considering incorporating Physical Education (PE) into the school's internal assessment system.
Speaking to the media today (Oct. 8), Chu Wai-lam, Chairman of the New Territories School Heads Association and Principal of Fung Kai No. 1 Primary School, expressed his support for this initiative. He believes that including PE in internal assessment can effectively enhance students' participation in sports and boost their motivation.
However, he emphasized the importance of evaluating students' overall engagement and daily participation, rather than overemphasizing specific skills or exercises.
Chu recommended using physical fitness assessments based on objective scoring standards for PE evaluation. As for skill assessments and written tests, he suggested that schools adjust their internal assessment criteria according to their own circumstances, ensuring consistency and fairness.
He also stressed the need for objective and transparent guidelines to maintain assessment integrity.
