At the Connect 2024 conference, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg showcased the prototype of the augmented reality (AR) glasses named "Orion."
Although there are no immediate plans for mass production, the unveiling has quickly sparked market interest. Observers are eager to see how Meta will leverage its extensive experience and technology to refine these AR glasses.

The Orion AR glasses are equipped with advanced Micro LED displays and several custom chips, weighing 98 grams. They come with an EMG (electromyography) wristband and a pocket-sized wireless computing device.
These glasses project virtual content into the real world for the user. The input system seamlessly integrates voice, eye tracking, hand tracking, and the EMG wristband, allowing for operations through single-hand swipes, fingertip taps, or voice commands.
Orion is positioned to replace smartphones and tablets by integrating Meta AI and spatial computing technologies. The earliest production of Orion is anticipated by 2027, though the actual production schedule could be delayed due to various technical challenges.
