An acid attack at Westminster Academy in Notting Hill, West London left three people injured, with the suspect still at large as of 6 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 2).

According to British media reports, the attack occurred around 4:40 p.m. on Monday, when a male suspect on a scooter threw what was believed to be acid at victims. Among the injured were a 27-year-old female staff member, a 16-year-old male student, and a 14-year-old female student.

The 14-year-old girl has been seriously hurt in the acid attack at school, with media reporting that the incident may leave her "life-changing" injuries.

The male student remains in the hospital with non-life-changing injuries, and the staff member has been sent home from the hospital.

Additionally, two police officers involved in the investigation reported feeling unwell and were taken to hospital by London ambulance service.

Tests conducted by the police confirmed that a strong acid was used in the attack. Authorities are urging witnesses or anyone with information to offer details about the case.

In the aftermath of the attack, the school was closed and transitioned back to online learning. The open day arranged for sixth-grade students has also been canceled. Principal Numera Anwar said that the decision to close the school has been made to allow for a thorough investigation.
