HK food & beverage industry turnover reaches around HK$300 mn on Oct.1
Mr. Simon Wong Ka-wo, President of the Hong Kong Federation of Restaurants & Related Trades, states on a radio program today (Oct. 2) that yesterday's total business turnover of the restaurant industry was about HK$300 million and hopes it will keep up this momentum.
According to the statistics, the number of arrivals in Hong Kong exceeded the number of departures yesterday. He believes a series of activities have attracted Hong Kong residents to stay and consume locally.
He notes that the stock market has been relatively prosperous over the past week, boosting the public's purchasing power.
He believes that many mainland tourists will come to Hong Kong in the next few days, estimating that nearly 1,000 tour groups will visit Hong Kong during the entire National Day "Golden Week". Before the pandemic, the restaurant industry could achieve a turnover of HK$10 billion in October. He hopes that the figure can reach HK$9 billion in October this year.
