Hong Kong Airlines cancels flights due to typhoon Krathon
Hong Kong Airlines has announced the cancellation of flights due to the severe typhoon Krathon. The affected flights include HX284 from Hong Kong to Taipei and HX285 from Taipei to Hong Kong, both scheduled for the day after tomorrow (Oct. 2).
The airline will waive fees for changing bookings, reissuing, and refunds for tickets on the affected flights, provided that the tickets have already been confirmed by Hong Kong Airlines.
According to the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO), the super typhoon Krathon is currently within 800 kilometers of the city. Based on current forecasts, Krathon is expected to cross the Luzon Strait into the northeastern South China Sea, gradually turning northward tomorrow (Oct. 1), and making landfall in southern Taiwan on Wednesday (Oct. 2). It will then cross Taiwan and maintain a distance of over 500 kilometers from Hong Kong, posing no direct threat to the city.
