HKPF arrest 185 in anti-triad operation, including 15-year-old child
From Sept.26 to 28, the Hong Kong Police Force's (HKPF) Organized Crime and Triad Bureau (OCTB), along with the Criminal Department, various major districts, and related personnel, launched an anti-crime and anti-triad operation codenamed " FLOWINGSHADE ". The operation aimed to combat violent crimes and activities associated with triads.
During the operation, officers patrolled numerous entertainment venues across Hong Kong, including mahjong parlors, bars, nightclubs, and gaming centers, and conducted raids on criminal hotspots and illegal establishments.
A total of 185 individuals were arrested, comprising 70 local men, 45 local women, 7 mainland Chinese men, 4 mainland Chinese women, 31 non-Chinese men, 20 non-Chinese women, and 8 illegal immigrants.
The suspects, ranging in age from 15 to 79, were arrested on various charges including operating gambling establishments, gambling, trafficking in dangerous drugs, drug possession, assault, criminal intimidation, criminal damage, possession of offensive weapons, burglary, theft, obtaining property by deception, and dealing with property known or believed to represent proceeds from indictable crimes (commonly referred to as money laundering).
