Northeast monsoon brings cooler temperatures for next four days
The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) announced today (Sept. 29) that the Tropical Cyclone "Krathon" has intensified into a typhoon.
Its peripheral subsidence airflow is currently bringing generally clear weather to eastern Guangdong. Around noon, temperatures in various parts of Hong Kong rose to about 32 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the high temperatures have triggered sudden showers affecting inland Guangdong.
The HKO predicts hot conditions this afternoon in the Hong Kong region with some sunshine and isolated showers and thunderstorms; the evening will be generally cloudy. Light to moderate easterly winds are expected.
In the next day or two, the weather in Hong Kong will generally be sunny and very hot. On the day after tomorrow (Oct. 1), which is National Day, the northerly winds are expected to strengthen gradually.
From Wednesday (Oct. 2) to Thursday (Oct. 3), the winds will be quite strong, with cooler mornings and evenings, and the minimum temperature in urban areas around 22 degrees Celsius, with dry conditions during the day.
According to the HKO's 9-day weather forecast, temperatures are expected to drop starting tomorrow (Sept. 30) for four consecutive days, reaching a low of about 22 degrees Celsius on Oct. 3 and 4, with a slight rise in temperatures thereafter.
