Elderly concession week: Enjoy shopping, dining & medical discounts
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the "Senior Citizen Card Scheme" and promote respect for the elderly, the Social Welfare Department (SWD) launches the "Senior Citizen Card Scheme 30th Anniversary Concession Week" from today (Sept. 20) to Thursday (Sept. 26).
This event features special discounts and offers from local food and beverage businesses, retail sectors, and other merchants to show appreciation and care for seniors holding the Senior Citizen Card.
The Senior Citizen Card Scheme, which has been in operation since April 1, 1994, aims to foster respect and care for the elderly. It provides discounts and privileges at government departments, public institutions, and merchant outlets to Hong Kong residents aged 65 or above. To date, over 2.5 million Senior Cards have been issued.
During the discount week, over 300 participating organizations and merchants across all 18 districts of Hong Kong, including about 1450 outlets, will display promotional posters. Elderly cardholders can simply scan the QR code on these posters with their smartphones to access a list of participating merchants and their offers. Information is also available on the Social Welfare Department's website and the "Senior Card Scheme " mobile app.
