Since the early hours of Sept. 19, pranksters on Google's search engine have renamed several schools in Hong Kong.
For example, Buddhist Tai Hung College in Cheung Sha Wan was changed to "Nobi Nobita College," and Ju Ching Chu Secondary School (Kwai Chung) was changed to "Qiuming mountain car god training secondary school," etc.
Education Bureau (EDB) has expressed worries about pranksters renaming schools on Google, which has led to the incorrect labels appearing on other apps such as Uber.
EDB said it had received reports from schools that their names had been altered on Google.
"[We] learned that some schools have already contacted the platform requesting a prompt correction. Some school names have been restored to normal," a bureau spokesman said.
EDB stressed that it will continue to monitor the situation and stay in touch with the schools.
