Come to HK for colorful shows: SAR Govt to hold abundant events to celebrate National Day
Eric Chan Kwok-ki, Secretary for Administration, held a press conference this afternoon (Sept. 17) to introduce a series of events and special offers organized by the HKSAR Government to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC).
Chan emphasized that the 75th anniversary of the PRC is a highly significant milestone. The government, in collaboration with various sectors, has planned over 400 events to celebrate with the public.
The Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Kevin Yeung announced that the National Day fireworks display will take place at 9 p.m. on Oct. 1.
Chan further noted that, in addition to the fireworks, a large-scale choral performance will be held on Sept. 30 at the outdoor area of the West Kowloon Cultural District. The event will feature 1,000 secondary school students singing patriotic songs, along with performances from various youth groups. There will also be a drone show involving 2,099 drones on the same occasion.
Chan also said that the government will incorporate the number "75" into various activities. For instance, 75 local tour groups will be organized, allowing 7,500 residents to explore different districts and experience the joy of travel across HK. Additionally, the Home Affairs Department will co-host a five-day National Day market with local community groups in late October, featuring 75 market stalls.
A key focus of the celebrations will be youth-related activities. Various programs, such as visiting the Mainland, will be arranged for young people to promote mutual learning and strengthen their sense of belonging and pride in the motherland, Chan added.
