Octopus Cards Limited (OCL) plans to roll out a new generation of Octopus readers, enabling users to redeem coupons and handle parking discounts while making payments via Octopus cards.

The new readers are expected to launch next year.

OCL introduced the "China T-Union Card" in late March of this year, which allows users to pay for public transport in 336 cities in mainland China. To date, over 50,000 cards have been sold.

The company stated that it is actively expanding its cross-border payment services. In addition to its existing capabilities in mainland China, Thailand, and South Korea, OCL is also exploring the possibility of extending its services to Japan. However, no specific timeline has been set.
