Expected traffic peaks on Shenzhen-Zhongshan link during Mid-Autumn Festival
Since its opening in July, the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link has maintained its popularity, with total traffic exceeding 3 million vehicle trips in the first month and hourly peaks surpassing 8,000 vehicles.
Today (Sept. 15), the Guangdong Traffic Police announced that the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival would mark the first-holiday travel peak for the bridge. Motorists are advised to plan their travel times and routes wisely and to drive legally.
According to data analysis by the Guangdong Traffic Police, traffic peaks are expected from today (Sept. 15) to the Mid-Autumn Festival (Sept. 17) between 9-11 a.m., 2-4 p.m., and 7 p.m. to midnight.
Congestion-prone areas primarily include the entrance ramp from Cuiheng East to the main bridge of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link and the entry from the artificial island on the west side into the tunnel towards Shenzhen.
Travel tips issued by the traffic police caution drivers against illegal parking or exiting vehicles to take photos on the bridge. Non-emergency stops on the emergency lane are prohibited. The entire stretch of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link has a speed limit of 100 km/h, but drivers are also reminded not to "crawl" to enjoy the scenery.
