Various media outlets widely circulated the related videos, provoking netizen anger: "Don't overdo it! what's with the drones!" "This seriously affects Quan's normal life!" "This level of filming is an invasion of privacy." Some even called for Olympic shooting champion Sheng Lihao to "shoot down the drones."

The local police station stated that officers had been on duty at the scene. In response to the influx of tourists, there were rumors that Maihe Village would implement a lockdown. However, village secretary Quan Nanshan clarified that there was no lockdown; they simply hoped that tourists wouldn't come too late and disturb the villagers' rest.
