A spokesperson for the Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service Center stated today (Sept. 13) that the blood inventory has now dropped to critically low levels, with only three to four days' supply left. The center urgently calls on the public to donate blood as soon as possible to replenish the blood inventory and ensure that patients can receive appropriate clinical transfusion treatment.

With the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays approaching, the center encourages citizens to actively donate blood to help others and send blessings of reunion to patients. Most donor centers will remain open during public holidays.

The center noted that hospitals across Hong Kong require blood daily to treat various injuries, and they need to collect 650 units of blood each day to meet the demands of hospitals.

Healthy individuals aged between 16 and 65 and weighing 41 kilograms or more can join the ranks of blood donors. Those who meet specific requirements can donate blood until 75 years old.

Citizens can make appointments to donate blood through the center's website, the mobile app HK Blood, or by calling the donor centers.
