PLA Hong Kong Garrison donate blood for Hongkonger
The People's Liberation Army (PLA) Hong Kong Garrison organized a blood donation activity at Gun Club Hill Barracks yesterday (Aug. 15), with about 400 officers and soldiers donating a total of 160,000 ml of blood to Hong Kong citizens.
Before the start of the activity, the Hong Kong Hospital Authority, the Hong Kong Red Cross and other representatives of the Hong Kong Garrison officers and soldiers participated in the kick-off ceremony, and the Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service Centre presented a certificate of appreciation to the PLA Hong Kong Garrison.
The blood donation program was well attended. In order to ensure that the quality of blood was up to standard, the health department of the Garrison conducted strict checks on the physical condition and blood status of the enrolled officers and soldiers in advance. The amount of blood donated by each male and female soldier was 450 ml and 350 ml respectively.
Since 1998, the PLA Hong Kong Garrison has organized 23 blood donation campaigns, in which more than 9,000 officers and soldiers have participated, donating more than 3.8 million milliliters of blood in total, and winning wide acclaim from all walks of life in Hong Kong.
