Eric Chan Kwok-ki, Secretary for Administration, responded today (Sept. 13) to the resignation of Sam Wong Tak-sum, Commissioner for Sports, stating that he respects Wong's decision and appreciates his contributions to Hong Kong's sports sector over the years.
Chan indicated that the government will follow proper procedures to find a successor and that Wong's resignation will not impact the development of sports in Hong Kong.
The Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau announced yesterday evening (Sept. 12) that Wong had submitted his resignation earlier for personal reasons, which was approved by the Bureau.
Wong will leave his position on Sept. 20. The Bureau will arrange for a successor according to established procedures.
