Photos | 'Promoting Peace for a Shared Future': 11th Beijing Xiangshan Forum kicks off today
The 11th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, a three-day event, kicked off today (Sept. 12).
The theme of the forum is "Promoting Peace for a Shared Future", featuring four plenary sessions, eight simultaneous special sessions, and six seminars, as well as special academic activities such as high-end interviews, leading experts' dialogue, young military officers' and scholars' seminar, and a "Shanghai Cooperation Organization+" young scholars' salon.
The topics for the plenary sessions focus on the role of Global South countries in international security, improving international security mechanisms, maintaining peace and development in the Asia-Pacific region, and achieving equitable and orderly global multipolarity.
The 8 simultaneous special sessions center around regional hot issues, emerging technologies, arms control, and humanitarianism.
The opening ceremony will be held tomorrow morning (Sept. 13), where Defense Minister Dong Jun will deliver a keynote speech.
