The Invest Hong Kong announced today (Sept. 10) that a mainland-based Green Tea Restaurant has officially opened its first branch in Causeway Bay, with plans to open a second branch in Tai Wai soon.

Green Tea Restaurant chose the 12th floor of Hysan Place in Causeway Bay for its first Hong Kong branch, with Yu Bin, a Michelin-starred chef from Hangzhou, who will serve as the chief consultant.

The restaurant crafted a Hong Kong-exclusive menu that features special dishes such as "West Lake Vegetable Fish Balls," "Pancake with Fragrant Pork Belly," and "DongPo Mini Beef," aiming to offer Hong Kong food enthusiasts a unique Zhejiang cuisine feast that differs from the Green Tea Restaurants in mainland China.

Green Tea Restaurant has announced significant opening promotions starting today. For lunch, from Sept. 11 to 17, between 11:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., customers will receive a complimentary serving of either West Lake Osmanthus Lotus Root Powder or Red Wine Yeast Balls.

For the afternoon tea promotion, starting today (Sept. 10) and lasting for one week, each table can choose a popular dish of the day for an opening promotional price of HK$ 9.9 after 5:00 p.m. This includes the "Bread Temptation," which sells 6 million units a year, the "Scholar's Taro Pot" used historically by the imperial court, and the "Casserole Xi Shi Tofu Pot," a famous dish from Zhuji, Zhejiang.

Tao Ye, the Vice President and General Manager of the Overseas Business Division of Green Tea Group, stated that the company's vision is to develop Green Tea Restaurant into an internationally recognized Chinese cuisine brand. Hong Kong plays a strategic role in achieving this goal thanks to its rich Chinese culinary culture, connection to global markets, and talent pool. It also serves as China's international gateway, making it an ideal springboard for the brand's global expansion.

"Green Tea Restaurant currently operates over 420 direct branches in mainland China and is now planning to list on the Hong Kong stock exchange," said Tao.

Jiang Xueli, Assistant Director of Invest Hong Kong, noted that Hong Kong has attracted many mainland dining brands in recent years, with Green Tea Restaurant being a significant player known for its unique modern Zhejiang cuisine. As a renowned culinary hub, Hong Kong serves as an ideal platform for mainland and international restaurants to showcase their products and brands to the world.
