Zheng Qinwen's remarkable win sets a rematch with Aryna Sabalenka
Paris Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen reached the US Open quarter-finals for a second time with victory over Donna Vekic in a record-late finish for a women's match.
The encounter finished at 2:15 am New York time.
Seventh-seed Zheng won 7-6 (7/2), 4-6, 6-2 against her 24th-ranked Croatian opponent, who she also defeated in the Paris Olympics final four weeks ago.
Zheng will face Aryna Sabalenka next in what will be an Australian Open final rematch.
"At two o'clock in the morning, this is unbelievable. Thank you to the fans for not sleeping tonight and supporting me here," Zheng said.
"Donna is really tough to play in hard court. She put me under a lot of pressure. I was totally in control in France, but today, she hit aggressively. It was really tough but a nice victory for me, and I enjoyed it."
