Ocean Park's new giant panda twins expected to meet public in mid-February next year

Paulo Pong Kin-yee, Chairman of Ocean Park, revealed that the health of the twin babies of giant panda Ying Ying and Le Le has finally stabilized and they have begun to grow black and white fur. (Ocean Park)

Paulo Pong Kin-yee, Chairman of Ocean Park, revealed that the health of the twin babies of giant panda Ying Ying and Le Le has finally stabilized and they have begun to grow black and white fur.

"The older sister is slightly larger than the younger brother, while the younger brother's black fur is particularly dense, and he is beginning to have dark circles under his eyes and black ears, and his back looks as if he is wearing a black undershirt."

As for the timing of the baby pandas' public appearance, the park plans to make reference to a pair of twin pandas in Macao and wait until they are at least half a year old, i.e. mid-February next year, to meet the public. The new pair of pandas given to Hong Kong by the Central Government is expected to be available in December.

Pong suggested that the public could visit the new pair first, and he believed that the public would surely become fans.

In order to avoid a large number of tourists visiting the pandas and "scaring them", the opening of the panda house would be restricted at the initial stage, so as to let them get used to it gradually, according to Pong.

He also pointed out that he does not plan to arrange personal contact between the pandas and the public, emphasizing that the welfare of the animals comes first.
