Panda mum Ying Ying plays with cub-scented doll

Ocean Park said on Saturday that its animal care team had prepared a cub-scented doll for giant panda Ying Ying, before her twin babies reunite with her.

The mother giant panda gave birth to one female and one male cub last week, and the park's team has been closely monitoring the twins.

Writing on its social media page, the park said before reintroducing the babies to Ying Ying, she would be given a cub-scented doll.

"The doll can help Ying Ying stay familiar with the cub's scent, and also let the caretakers observe and evaluate Ying Ying's behaviour when she interacts with the scented doll," it wrote.
