
According to the China Movie Data Information Network, the sci-fi thriller "Alien: Romulus" from 20th Century Studios remained the top earner at the box office every day in the Chinese mainland on Wednesday (Aug. 21).
On its sixth day of screening, the movie, which is the seventh installment of the successful "Alien" franchise, grossed over 45.38 million yuan (about 6.37 million U.S. dollars).
It tells the story of a group of young space colonists who encounter the universe's most terrifying life form while scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station.
The domestic crime film "Go for Broke" ranked second on the daily chart with a revenue of 20.78 million yuan.
The Japanese animation "Detective Conan: The Million-Dollar Pentagram" came in the third, earning 12.28 million yuan on the day.
The total box office revenue on the Chinese mainland on Wednesday hit 111.45 million yuan.
