Cine-Art House's branch at Kowloon City Plaza to be closed down on Aug. 26

Cine-Art House announced on its Facebook page today (Aug. 20) that its branch at Kowloon City Plaza will be closed down next Monday (Aug. 26) due to the expiry of its lease.

Some Hong Kongers left comments to express their gratitude to the cinema after its announcement.

This branch has been in business for just over four years since the end of December 2019. It is on the second floor of Kowloon City Plaza, where the former Kowloon City Cinema was located.

The cinema was originally targeted at art films and later provided both art and commercial films at a fifty-fifty basis.

There are a total of six cinemas closed down this year, including President Theatre with a history of about 50 years, Golden Harvest in Kai Tak, The Metroplex at Kowloonbay International Trade & Exhibition Centre, Cinema City at Langham Place in Mong Kok which paid the highest rent among the cinemas in Hong Kong, MCL cinema in South Horizons and Cine-Art House at Kowloon City Plaza.
