The Overseas Chinese World Conference for Promoting Peaceful Reunification of China was held today (Aug. 20) afternoon at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. This marks the first time since 2010 the conference has been held in Hong Kong.
The conference theme is "Unswervingly promoting China's peaceful reunification and striving to achieve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation." Chen Xiaojian, Deputy Minister of the United Front Work Department, read a congratulatory letter from Wang Huning, Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee.
In his congratulatory letter, Wang expressed his warm congratulations on the grand convening of the global conference for overseas Chinese to promote China's peaceful reunification in Hong Kong and extended sincere greetings and best wishes to the representatives attending the conference.
Wang stated that for a long time, the vast number of compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas have upheld national righteousness and actively participated in the movement against "independence" and for reunification, making positive contributions to promoting exchanges and integration across the Taiwan Strait and enhancing the international community's adherence to the One China principle, thereby advancing the process of peaceful reunification of the motherland.
He hopes that the organizations promoting reunification both at home and abroad, along with patriotic individuals from all walks of life, will take this conference as an opportunity to widely gather consensus, wisdom, and strength, injecting new momentum into the development of the anti-"independence" and pro-reunification movement among Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas communities.
Wang further pointed out that a strong and unified country is always tied to the fate of all Chinese people, including those in Taiwan. Chinese people will consistently adhere to the overall strategy of the Party in addressing the Taiwan issue in the new era, grasping the overall situation of cross-strait relations from the perspective of the collective interests and long-term development of the Chinese nation, and unwaveringly advancing the peaceful reunification process of the motherland.
He hopes that the vast number of compatriots from Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and overseas will grasp the historical trend, uphold national righteousness, jointly oppose "Taiwan independence," and promote reunification, firmly holding the fate of the Chinese nation in the hands of the Chinese people, creating a beautiful future for national reunification and sharing the great glory of national rejuvenation.

Since 2000, the Overseas Chinese World Conference for Promoting Peaceful Reunification of China has convened in 21 cities worldwide, uniting communities from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas to pursue the nation's peaceful reunification.
