A 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck Miyazaki Prefecture and other areas in southwestern Japan on Thursday. Tsunami advisories have been issued for Miyazaki, Kochi, Ehime, Oita, and Kagoshima prefectures on the islands of Kyushu and Shikoku, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).

It is learned that at least 12 tour groups from two Hong Kong travel agencies are in Miyazaki Prefecture, and all the travelers are safe.
