Japan men's table tennis team suffers setback after defeated by Sweden, failing to reach team final
In the semifinals of the men's team table tennis event at the Paris Olympics early this morning, Japan suffered a huge upset after taking a 2-0 lead, losing 2-3 to Sweden and failing to qualify for the final.
The Swedish Men's Team is the first to advance to the final and will compete with the winner of the Chinese Men's Team and the French Men's Team for the gold medal.
Japan won the first-round doubles match and the second-round singles match, with Tomokazu Harimoto showing great personal ability. However, the Swedes rallied to win three consecutive games, and in the final match, Harimoto lost to his opponent Anton Källberg, and Japan was defeated by Sweden.
After losing the match, Harimoto was so frustrated that he collapsed on his knees for a while. "What the three of us can do now is to try to regain some of our strength and then try to face tomorrow's match."
