Truls Moregard: My final match better than previous one against Wang Chuqin
China's Fan Zhendong overcame Truls Moregard of Sweden 4-1 to win the table tennis men's singles gold at the Paris Olympics.
"The silver medal is very significant, I played very well in the final, so I have no regrets. And I played much better than I did against the world number one (Wang Chuqin). I congratulate Fan Zhendong, and I'm very proud of myself," said Moregard in an interview with the Swedish media after the match.
"After I won the first set, I was in good shape for the next few sets, even better. But my opponent hit some incredible shots."
"I wish the whole of Sweden could have seen this match because there is no more amazing play and I hope a lot of people will fall in love with table tennis again."
"This medal is heavy, lovely, beautiful and I'm very proud of it. I really wanted to win gold, but I did everything I could," he added.
