Shenzhen Customs cracks drug case: Nearly 12kg of methamphetamine 'woven' into carpet
Shenzhen Customs recently intercepted a package of drugs and seized more than 11.5kg of suspicious powder, which was tested and determined to be methamphetamine.
Customs detained a transshipment cargo from the Middle East, which consisted of carpets with irregular breaks in them as revealed by machine inspection. Customs officers then used toothpicks to take samples from different areas of the carpet for testing and found that there was methamphetamine hidden in the braided threads of the carpet. Later, the mini hose with methamphetamine was disassembled by a partial micro-invasive dismantling method.
At present, the Shenzhen Customs Anti-Smuggling Department has intervened in the investigation and processing.
