Watch This | Apple trees reappear! Three people cross boundary with 138 old iPhones
The General Administration of Customs today (August 1) stated that recently Qingmao Port, a subsidiary of Gongbei Customs, has seized a total of 138 used iPhones in consecutive smuggling cases of 3 passengers.
According to Customs, at 2:21 a.m. on July 30, a man wearing a red short-sleeved jacket crossed the boundary through the undeclared channel at the Qingmao Port, and was intercepted by officers at the scene as they noticed that the man had a bulky body shape. Upon further inspection, 46 old Apple mobile phones bound with black elastic bandages and plastic wrap were found on the waist, abdomen and legs of the passenger.
Only half a minute later, on-site officers found a man wearing a black short-sleeve looking down at a mobile phone legs bloated, walking in an unusual manner. Another traveler wearing an ink-blue short-sleeved shirt was found to be stiff and nervous, so the two were intercepted. Upon further inspection, 50 used Apple mobile phones were found tied up with plastic wrap and black elastic bandages on the waist, abdomen, and thighs of one of the travelers, while 42 used iPhones were found in the same way on the waist and abdomen of the other traveler.
A total of 138 used Apple mobile phones were seized in these three cases.
The Customs reminds that, according to the relevant provisions, to hide, disguise, conceal or otherwise evade the supervision of the Customs, transporting, carrying, sending goods or articles prohibited or restricted by the state to enter or leave the country or goods, or articles subject to tax by law to enter or leave the country, are acts of smuggling, and if the situation is serious enough to constitute a crime, criminal liability will be investigated according to the law.
