Asian record broken! National mixed 4x100m medley relay wins silver
The final of the mixed 4 x 100m medley relay was held at the Paris Olympics. The relay team of Xu Jiayu, Qin Haiyang, Zhang Yufei and Yang Junxuan set a new Asian record with a time of 3:37.55 and won the silver medal.
The US team swam 3:37.43, 0.12 seconds ahead of the world record, to win the gold medal.
In the press conference after the race, some foreign media reporters asked again whether the stimulant test would affect the preparation for the race. Qin Haiyang admitted that for him, it did affect his preparation rhythm. "I can't count how many times I've had to take the test, but I'm often called up at 6 a.m. to take the test," he said. He also expressed that the unfounded accusations have brought public pressure on the team.
So far, the Chinese swimming team has won 1 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze medals in this year's Olympic Games.
