Turkey's Yusuf Dikec, who won the silver medal with no other equipment with his teammates in the mixed team 10m air pistol competition at Paris Olympics on July 30, has attracted widespread attention on the world wide web, and has been jokingly dubbed by netizens as a "gunslinger".
In this regard, the Embassy of Turkey in China responded that Yusuf Dikec, born on January 1, 1973, in Kahramanmaraş, is a shooting athlete from Turkey and is a senior sergeant of the Gendarmerie General Command.
According to the embassy, Dikec began his shooting career at the Gendarmerie's sports club, specializing in the pistol event, and represented Turkey at the 2012 London Olympics in the 10m air and 50m pistol events. He went on to win a gold and a silver medal at the 2013 Mersin Mediterranean Games. But at the 2016 Rio Olympics, Dikec placed 22nd in the 50m pistol event with 550 points.
