Global industrial manufacturers: China leads world while UK drops out of top 10
China remains the world's largest manufacturing nation in 2022, accounting for almost a third of the world's output at US$5.06 trillion (HK$39.5 trillion), showing its strength as the world's factory at the top of the global industrial map, according to data from the Make UK.
China demonstrated its strength as the world's factory at the top of the global industrial map. It was closely followed by the United States, with an output value of US$2.69 trillion (HK$21 trillion), and Japan, with an output value of US$850 billion (HK$6.6 trillion), in third place. In Europe, Germany is the manufacturing industry leader, with an output value of US$751 billion (about HK$5.86 trillion), ranking fourth in the world, followed by India and Korea.
The Times reported on the same day that the UK failed to make it into the world's top 10 industrial manufacturing countries for the first time, being overtaken by countries such as Mexico (7th) and Russia (8th), and slipping to 12th place, four places down from last year.
