HK Tramways celebrates 120th anniversary with 'McDull and Mrs. McDull' tours
Hong Kong Tramways Limited today (July 30) held the "Everywhere You Go, Ding Ding with You" 120th-anniversary celebration event and announced the launch of a series of promotional activities, including the "McDull and Mrs. McDull" sightseeing tram tours.
The tours will operate six trips daily from 10 a.m., traveling between Sheung Wan (Western Market) and Causeway Bay.
Hong Kong Tramways has set up six McDull photo spots, a postcard station, and a "120th Anniversary Pop-up Store" at Central Market. The store offers various collectible "Hong Kong Tramways × McDull" commemorative coins.
Other items available include the "McDull and You" die-cast Tram No. 120 model, the "McDull and Mrs. McDull" family Octopus card gift set, and the "Hong Kong Tramways Double Jubilee Anniversary" stamps.
"Hong Kong Tramways is one of the city's most extensive and efficient public transportation systems, serving millions of residents and tourists. The tram is an essential commuting tool and has become part of Hong Kong's life and culture," Lam Sai-hung, Secretary for Transport and Logistics, remarked in his speech.
Lam revealed that Hong Kong Tramways will roll out a series of commemorative activities and offers to encourage residents and tourists to relive fond memories through tram experiences.
"The tram company will respond to increasing demand by developing new technologies and innovative designs," said Paul Tirvaudey, Managing Director of Hong Kong Tramways.
Mehdi Sinaceur, Deputy CEO and Senior Vice President of RATP Dev, the parent company of Hong Kong Tramways, emphasized the tram's significant role in Hong Kong's transportation network and its contributions to environmental protection and social responsibility.
